Uncanny Valley is a music and sound design venture founded by world renowned music producer/composer ‘Shave’ and producer Charlton Hill from a studio base in Tamarama Beach - Sydney, Australia.
Charlton and Shave’s combined record industry and commercial music experience credits them with the production of literally hundreds of projects across the television, film and advertising industries in Australia and internationally.
Dedicated to delivering inspired, original composition, sound design and sonic identities, Uncanny Valley also provide an interface between agencies, unsigned acts and labels for license material and recording artist collaboration. |

Justin Shave
Head Composer/Music Producer
'Shave', as he is more affectionately known in the industry, has been producing since he was 19. Coming from a classical piano background into pop and jazz keys, he moved gradually into programming, production and writing. |

Shave now has over 15 years of international credits in the pop, dance, television and film industries and prides himself on delivering sonic solutions to the toughest of brief. He has run up an impressive list of compositions for TV commercials including: Bacardi, KFC, AT&T, Toyota and Chrysler and worked with big name directors including Nicolai Fuglsig (Sony ‘Balls’). He has also been associated with major sonic branding for television stations, mainstream brands and fashion labels.
Shave has recently returned to Sydney after 5 years in London producing and running his own record label and during that time collaborated with the likes of Shapeshifters, Fatboy Slim, Darren Hayes (of 25 million selling duo, Savage Garden), Mutya Buena (ex-Sugarbabes), Cerrone, Antigone and Etherfox. He is currently writing and producing new material for Darren Hayes, Sydney's 'the Potbelleez' and UK dance artist, Sam Obernik.
With many strings to his bow, Shave has also custom-built a music making soft-synth-come-physical-instrument, the extraordinary Okkam 01, an invention that recently won him an endorsement by pioneering German company Native Instruments…see Conceptual for a demonstration.

As a producer of music and sound design, Charlton strives to deliver surprising responses to briefs, generated in exciting collaborative environments. He has produced compositions, sound design and post production audio on major campaigns for Nike, Lexus, Nokia, Sony, P&G, Castrol, Panasonic, BBC and MTV. His experience has taken him around the world with more recent focus in Singapore, Japan and India.
Charlton has been a three time guest judge on the Australian Creative's Hotshop awards panel and was also asked to speak at the highly regarded 2009 AGIdeas International Design Week on the art of 'sound as design'. When he is not consumed by music you'll find him searching for waves up and down the east coast of Australia - and filming it.
